Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate internally with key stakeholders to develop and execute a global trade strategy that aligns with the company's business objectives to comply with related export/import laws
• Partner and manage externally with service providers such as law firms and export consulting firms
• Understand the current business operation including supply chain and service providers (except legal and compliance firms) and future business plan, identify possible export/import issues and/or risks and review, develop and implement trade compliance policies and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure legal compliance. Oversee documentation and maintain records of all trade-related transactions to demonstrate compliance internally and externally. Maintain a continuing improvement process for compliance work.
• Respond to any compliance concerns/issues/requests and resolve or provide solutions timely and professionally. Conduct risk assessment through assessing and managing potential risks related to international trade especially US export control laws, such as Export Administrations Regulations (“EAR”). Conduct internal audits and ongoing monitoring to identify and rectify any non-compliance issues.
• Develop and maintain relationships and build up networks with related government agencies/authorities and industry peers to facilitate smooth trade operations and make recommendation on best practice and policy ensuring compliance in doing business.
Key Requirements:
• A master/ bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years' experience in Trade Compliance and Import/Export operations with experience in Customs & Trade, Logistics and/ or Supply Chain
• Strong integrity to uphold company reputation and commitment to ethical business practices is extremely important and necessary.
• A leader who can set priorities and drive compliance initiatives and develop a new business function in Singapore.
• Is cultural and geo-political sensitive and aware of cultural
• Understand US EAR and familiar with trade compliance software and tools for managing documentation and compliance processes.
• A Licensed Customs Broker or experience with International Customs and World Trade Organization Regulations is a plus.
