Job Description

This position is with the Global Enterprise Risk Management group under the direction of the Chubb Chief Risk Officer, and is based in Philadelphia, PA. The team seeks a self-motivated and passionate professional to be responsible for risk assessment, modeling and reporting to Chubb’s executive and board committees, as well as external stakeholders such as regulators and ratings agencies. The ideal candidate is a driven individual motivated by the opportunity to identify and assess a wide range of impactful risks to Chubb. The primary risk area of focus will be Political Risk. The candidate will also support regulatory deliverables (e.g. Own Risk and Solvency Assessment reports) and have responsibility for developing stress scenarios and performing stress testing, used for internal capital and liquidity assessments as well as regulatory reporting.

These responsibilities require an understanding of the insurance industry and factors impacting it, as well as an understanding of geopolitical developments, and finance and macroeconomic fundamentals. Projects often require tight completion timelines and close attention to detail. At any one-time, multiple projects may be ongoing so the ability to shift focus quickly from one project to another is necessary.

Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Production of ERM’s quarterly and annual risk accumulation analyses, reports, and presentations to various senior management and Board committees.
  • Preparation of various ERM analyses including stress testing/reverse stress testing, industry data & competitor analysis, Rating Agency presentations, emerging risk, etc.
  • Preparation of Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) for both internal management and regulatory filings at the Chubb group and/or legal entity level; updates to stress scenarios to reflect risk profile/external environment and enhancements to the ORSA report as appropriate.
  • Increase automation of exposure analyses, e.g. automation/increase efficiency of accumulation process and spreadsheets, development and use of querying tools.
  • Run & analyze models, parameterization, sensitivity testing and validation for business purposes.
  • Collaboration with offshore analytical team to support risk accumulation analyses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, math/statistics, computer science, engineering, business, actuarial science, risk management, or related field
  • Five years of experience in enterprise risk management, finance, actuarial or related functions in the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and critical business thinking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to distill and communicate key messages to an executive audience
  • Capacity to identify and assess potential risks, taking initiative to seek out internal resources or external data sources to do so
  • Detail oriented with ability to manage complex processes
  • Ability to provide realistic time estimates; driven to achieve committed milestones
  • Collaborative problem-solving skills
  • Should have good organization skills and be able to maintain good documentation and record keeping.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word required (including VBA macro skills and knowledge of data arrays and pivot tables), other MS Office applications (Access), and/or SQL a strong plus.
  • Experience with the following technologies: R or Python, SQL, Linux, HTML/CSS preferred.
