Overview:
Our client, a prestigious global advisory and strategic intelligence firm, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Development Director to be based in their Tokyo office. In this client-facing role, you will be responsible for driving business growth, cultivating long-term client relationships, and managing a diverse range of strategic initiatives. Your primary focus will be on developing new business opportunities and expanding relationships with existing clients to generate recurring revenue.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Business Development:
- Identify and capitalize on emerging business opportunities within Japan.
- Proactively engage with potential clients, initiate communication, and drive business development efforts to expand the firm’s client base.
- Lead initiatives to generate new lines of work or services that align with client needs and market trends.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Oversee and nurture relationships with existing clients, ensuring ongoing satisfaction and identifying opportunities for continued collaboration.
- Lead or support client engagements, ensuring that projects are delivered to the highest standard and in line with client expectations.
- Re-engage with former clients to reignite business opportunities or explore new service offerings.
- Project & Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate closely with the project execution teams to ensure smooth communication of findings, effective delivery, and the management of client expectations.
- Play a key role in identifying areas for growth and expanding the scope of services provided to clients.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Native proficiency in Japanese and fluent in English (both written and spoken).
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with senior executives across various industries.
- Proven track record in business development, with experience in client-facing roles in sectors such as consulting, finance, law, policy, or intelligence.
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a global, cross-functional team.
- A strategic mindset and the ability to identify and act on new business opportunities in a competitive, fast-paced environment.
- Experience in handling complex client relationships and managing expectations in dynamic settings.
