The Role: Chief of Staff
The Chief of Staff (CoS) to the CEO at Laurel Strategies will serve as a key strategic advisor and operational leader, ensuring the Office of the CEO runs efficiently, proactively addressing priorities, and managing critical initiatives. This person will act as a force multiplier for the CEO—synthesizing information, driving execution, and keeping the organization focused on its highest priorities.
This is a highly visible role requiring exceptional strategic acumen, operational excellence, discretion, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Operations & Strategic Execution
• Run the Office of the CEO with precision – Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, alignment, and execution.
• Keep the trains running on time – Anticipate needs, enforce deadlines, and drive a structured approach to the CEO’s workflow.
• Act as a trusted advisor and proxy – Represent the CEO in meetings, synthesize insights, and ensure follow-through on key action items.
• Manage high-priority initiatives – Oversee execution of special projects, strategic partnerships, and cross-functional efforts.
• Support strategy development and execution – Provide oversight on firm-wide priorities, ensuring alignment with long-term goals.
• Troubleshoot challenges and remove obstacles – Identify bottlenecks and proactively resolve issues.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
• Serve as a strategic filter – Distill and prioritize information for the CEO, ensuring clarity and focus.
• Liaise with key stakeholders – Manage relationships with senior executives, board members, clients, and global partners.
• Ensure seamless internal coordination – Align leadership teams, client-facing teams, and external partners with the CEO’s vision.
• Manage CEO communications – Oversee speechwriting, articles, panels, and thought leadership engagements.
Operational Efficiency & Organizational Management
• Oversee scheduling, workflow, and time management – Ensure the CEO’s calendar and commitments are optimized.
• Work closely with the Executive Assistants to ensure alignment on priorities, scheduling, and meeting preparation.
• Ensure meeting efficiency – Set clear objectives, oversee the preparation of background materials, and ensure effective follow-ups.
• Track progress on initiatives – Maintain an inventory of priority projects, ensuring execution and accountability.
• Leverage the firm’s Senior Advisors – Maximize the impact of advisory relationships and networks.
Business Development & Strategic Growth
• Analyze business development approaches – Identify strategies to strengthen the firm’s client relationships and impact.
• Enhance business efficiency – Develop processes to drive operational excellence and scale strategic initiatives.
• Present timely work-in-progress updates – Keep the CEO informed of key developments across projects and communications.

Qualifications & Experience
• Master’s degree preferred – Specialization in business, finance, communications, international relations, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience – In business strategy, consulting, communications, policy, investment, or executive operations in business or government.
• Private sector or advisory experience – Background in management consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, or C-Suite support.
• Understanding of global dynamics – Familiarity with policy, business, media, and investment landscapes.
• Media experience a plus – Strong understanding of reputation management, strategic positioning, and stakeholder engagement.
• Results-driven mindset – A strong orientation toward execution, accountability, and delivering measurable outcomes.
• Collaborative leadership style – A proven team player who fosters alignment across functions.
